When choosing GPS tracking systems, it’s important to understand the basic types of GPS tracking systems and how they work. Read below to find out more about 4 common types of GPS tracking systems.

Hardwired GPS Tracking Devices

Hardwired GPS tracking systems are typically used in vehicles. These GPS tracking systems utilize the power of the vehicle’s battery for operation. With the brain of the unit hidden under the hood or your dashboard, these GPS tracking systems sometimes come with antennas that must be attached to the vehicle.

GPS Loggers

GPS loggers are GPS tracking systems that are used to record information to be retrieved at a later date. For example, a GPS logger can be used to track a vehicle or a shipment, but the information cannot be retrieved from the GPS tracking system until it is manually uploaded to a computer. These are also known as passive GPS tracking systems.

Personal GPS Trackers

Personal GPS trackers are GPS tracking systems which look like small beepers or cell phones. They’re designed to be handheld, clipped to a belt, or tossed in a purse for individual use. GPS tracking systems for personal use are often purchased for the purpose of personal protection for adults and children. Many personal GPS tracking systems include a panic button for quickly alerting family or authorities in emergency situations.

Real-Time GPS Trackers

Real-Time GPS trackers are GPS tracking systems which continuously transmit information so that users can track their location all the time. Real time GPS tracking systems are highly-sophisticated and require the use of tracking services and GPS tracking software. With real time GPS tracking systems, satellite mapping is used to show the location of the GPS tracking devices.

Conclusion

If you need help deciding which types of GPS tracking systems would be most suitable for your business or personal use, visit Mighty Tracker. at www.MightyTracker.com

The MGT-310 is a little larger still than most of the popular GPS Modules, but has displayed a rigour of performance and dependability with it’s I/O interfaces and has a abuilt a rock solid reputation for MightyGPS in the process as well.

While we do have more sexier, sleeker and smaller for applications that call for it. But to date, if asked by any client, the MGT-310 remains our first recommendation for AVL/ Navigation or mobile depolyments. Contact our resident guru at David@mightygps.com

There are a number of solutions that are making container tracking a much more efficient and effective mechanism. We were recently challenged with a way to track rail cars from a client. They send out chemical compounds to their customers and usually start charging as soon as the container is delivered onsite.

However, usually the reporting with paper work is backlogged and days behind, even if reported accurately. Thus, foregoing days work of revenue.

We developed a solution using an off the shenlf GPS receiver and customizing the casing and software to deliver a very effective solution.

We are seeing it in the day-to-day requests for insights into applications that clients are developing. Some ingenious things at that! All usually designed to make something work better, more efficient or cut costs with greater insights/ inventions.

One of the key differentiators is chipset type for all of the GPS Modules. Some are created with high rates of sensitivities, others for general higher volume and stable output requirements, and others still for lower end applications where accuracy is not so much an issue as price perhaps is.

There are various solutions for navigation vs tracking. While we showcase a broad array of modules, we also can custom create solutions for clients, or work to incorporate off the shelf solutions, by simply offering some guidance on which communication modems and chipsets are ideal for tracking solutions per se.
